Restaurants I Tried In and Around St. Louis – Part 2
There are so many wonderful restaurants in St. Louis that I wrote another article to cover them all. If you want to see Part 1 you can find that HERE. Now onto Part 2! Let’s start this article out with Gus’ Pretzels…
Gus’ Pretzels
When I was at a baseball game last summer, I sat by a lady who was visiting the city and she told me her group had eaten at Gus’ Pretzels. Ever since then, I have had it on my list of places to try and I’m so glad I did! This neat shop has a long rich history of family and pretzels. When you walk in, you see pictures and newspaper articles hanging on the wall telling the story of Gus’ which has been passed down through multiple generations.
There are three different flavors of pretzels available and many of them come in varying styles. The flavors include regular (salted), cinnamon sugar and garlic & butter. You can order pretzels in the traditional pretzel twist, as a stick or as endz. My favorite of the ones I tried were the cinnamon sugar endz. The pretzels are reasonably priced and you will leave feeling like you just took part in St. Louis history! Find Gus’ website here – https://guspretzels.com

The Fountain on Locust
When looking for a new place to eat in St. Louis, I came across The Fountain on Locust. It was suggested by several different sources so we thought we would give it a try. When looking over the menu online, the dishes were reasonably priced and it looked like a unique place to eat. Upon arriving, we found parking on the street out in front and headed in. While not a large sitting area, there was enough room for people visiting and we didn’t have to wait to be seated. We were a little skeptical when looking at the menu (One dish they served was Polish pickle soup) but we were willing to give it a try.
The waiter we had was very knowledgable and was able to help my sister find a dairy free option to fit her dietary needs. I got the two soup dish and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Oh and did I mention they have more than 52 different soups that they switch out each week! While I probably wouldn’t order the polish pickle soup again and instead try something else, I thought it was good and I enjoyed trying such a unique dish. I loved the black bean soup and each of my family members really enjoyed their meals as well. I highly recommend this restaurant as a place for you to try.

Ted Drewes
Ted Drewes is a St. Louis staple. If you are wanting a sweet treat you should give it a try. Here there are many different ways to enjoy ice cream. They start with a vanilla base and then you can add different flavors to mix in. When you drive up, the store is usually busy. On our visit we easily found parking in the lot next to the building. When we looked at the line it looked like it was going to take forever to get to the front to order. After walking up to the window though, we realized that a lot of people had already ordered and were instead waiting on their ice cream. We were able to quickly order and our ice cream was swift to come. They are able to serve a large amount of guests in a short time frame. If you are visiting the city, you definitely should give this place a try. And if you visit during the Christmas season, they set up a Christmas tree lot in their parking space.

The Breakfast Corner
Let’s end this list with a nice breakfast place. The Breakfast Corner is a typical breakfast diner with an upper class feel. The dishes you can order are beautifully put together and taste delicious. One thing to be aware of though is that their parking lot is on the smaller side so you may have to find street parking if they are busy.
